The way in which I addressed and attracted my audience was mainly through the presentation and the layout of my magazine. Main streamers want to see security and similarity from one issue and another, and although this is a new magazine that needs to catch the readers attention, it needs to have all of the factors of an existing magazine, so that the readers feel comfortable. in order to get this feel, the magazine needed to look professional and appealing to look at. To do this I used a high quality camera to take the photographs and kept the sharp and clean impression going by making sure that the font of my title was done in a Sans Serif font to make it easily legible and I formatted the layout so that it was structured with straight lines to make it easier to read. I kept the feeling of professionalism going by chosing a colour scheme that was classy and simple, but by having the gold against the Navy Blue it made an impact, because it was different from having the classic contrasting colours of Black and White together. Obviously I needed to have more colours than just the Navy Blue and the gold, so i thought that colours that would bring the 2 colour together would be a Light Grey (Silver) as it would bring the Black and the White together with the softer tones of the other colours. I also attracted my audience by choosing a cover model in the same age category as most of my readers, meaning that they could relate to her and they would therefore be more inclined to pick the magazine up. Her gaze on all 3 of the pages is subjective and she looks directly in to the camera, meaning that the audience is drawn to the magazine when it is placed on a shelf next to other similar magazines.
I based my magazine on the current American magazine "Billboard" as they both cover a similar music genre, however I wanted to appeal to a younger audience so I approached the target audience once a week during the construction of the magazine and asked 7 people their opinions on it. Their feedback was very usefull and after taking it on board, I then went to my media teacher and asked him how I could improve it in terms of presentation, whereas my focus group gave me more feedback on colours, content etc. The language I use is very modern, but is formatted and punctuated in a very gramatically correct way so that it focuses in on my middle class audience. It is always emphasising the present and the future as it gives my readers the feel of it being up to date, as well as being "in the know". This is good for a younger audience as it means that they feel good because they know something, that they think noone else will know, and it is also a topic and point of conversation.
